With the support of the ACT Government under the City Renewal Authority's City Grants Program, Cygnus Atratus is a photographic project documenting the black swans of Canberra's urban environment.
Native to Ngunnawal country and a constant presence at locations where the urban and natural environments entwine, black swans are an important aspect of Canberra's landscape and identity. Coinciding with the birds' springtime breeding period, the project aims connect the city with the lake, and the community with our native wildlife.
Through November and December 2018, the photographs will be installed on the exterior of the Sydney Building and the interior of the walkway of the Melbourne Building in Canberra ACT. From September you can see the project unfold on Instagram and contribute your own photographs via the hashtag:
