Why do we draw? We make marks on paper for the sheer pleasure of doing so. We draw what is in our minds and what is before our eyes. We draw to think and to understand the world around us.

Eye to Hand is an observational drawing course taught by award winning Canberra artist Genevieve Swifte. Drawing on her PhD research, the course explores the relationship between the eye and the hand to develop observational and motor skills through traditional and contemporary approaches to mark making. Based in the creative heart of Canberra at the historic Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres, the class welcomes young artists from thirteen years of age, creative professionals, complete beginners and people with all levels of ability.

Taught by Genevieve Swifte around Canberra, Eye to Hand is a series of creative workshops and community-based events ranging from one on one tuition to large groups, masterclasses, consultancy, public art, events and festivals. For more information, please contact or visit the Eye to Hand Facebook Page.
